So, um, yeah. Left work early today because I had the beginnings of a head cold and things were quiet and I thought I could load up on meds and get the sleep that I didn't get last night. That plan wasn't going too well, what with the Formula 1 Grand Prix about 2kms away and all those cars doing what it is they do--make a LOT of noise, and it's not even race day.
But I was so tired that I fell asleep despite their droning.
About 10 minutes later, my phone rang. And when I saw it was a US number, I'll admit it, my heart started racing. Then, when Jeanne Adams said, "I'm an RWA Board member," I started to giggle. I'm still giggling, but the cold is long gone, drowned out by a very strong margarita.
That's right. The Lake Effect has turned me into a 2010 Golden Heart finalist in the Novel with Strong Romantic Elements category. I gotta tell ya. This book has already brought me a lot of joy, and I'll admit to desperately, desperately hoping it would make it this far (while all the while telling myself "it's not the be all and end all, you know plenty of successful writers who tanked in the GH"), but the fact that it has? I really am stunned. And so very, very happy.
Nashville, here I come :-) (But first, I need to update my webapge!!!)
P.S. Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU, Jeanne--you were extremely cool!
